Utilising the latest innovations, we create immersive, innovative, and supported learning experiences across the full range of courses we offer.
Our leading learning technology enables delegates to be fully immersed in virtual environments and engage with authentic scenarios to build knowledge, skills, and behaviours in a safe and supportive environment.
While our incident ground still provides the most authentic learning experience for delegates to consolidate their acquired learning, the use of virtual environments allows delegates to undertake a range of simulations without the associated risk, cost, and carbon emissions associated live scenarios.
The college has its own onsite Digital Team that works collaboratively with subject matter experts to define the learning of each course and then design the learning journey to best leverage technology to provide an excellent learning experience.
Brand new Virtual Reality suites are being built to support our digital transformation and provide a state-of-the-art learning environment for the delivery of virtual and augmented reality experiences.
Learning technology is also allowing us to connect with our delegates regardless of location. We offer a blended learning approach across classroom, incident ground, virtual reality, and digital platforms to provide a truly flexibility and personalised learning experience.
Our online learning management system scaffolds the learners’ journey, whether a face to face or online approach to delivery is adopted. The learning management system allows any course to have a bespoke feel and for its key performance indicators to be centrally co-ordinated and collated. This allows us to continually monitor and review our courses and drive quality.
We are developing a digital augmented reality fire appliance and light portable pump to provide firefighter trainees with an interactive model that they can explore in order to develop their understanding of the theory and principles behind water pumping techniques. This asset allows the delegates to view the pumps in action, see how they are constructed and the flow of water through the systems thus enhancing their understanding and interpretation of the gauges and the systems to support their development into theory based , effective firefighters.
Augmented reality buildings have also been designed to support the assessments in our Prevention and Protection suite of courses. This allows delegates to be subjected to standardised authentic assessments that ensure the achievement of learning is fully assessed.
FLAIM Trainer combines high fidelity virtual hazardous fire environments, audio and industry standard equipment to deliver a fully immersive, multi-sensory, physical experience.
The FLAIM Trainer is used in courses where delegates are at the start of their firefighting career, and acts as a great way to learn about fire behaviour and techniques to tackle them.
RiVR Link allows us to design and film virtual reality learning content that is fully aligned to your learning outcomes. With the headsets on, delegates are provided with an immersive, distraction free learning experience.RiVR Link enables instructors to interact and engage with the delegates during the experience, annotating the video, highlighting key points, pausing and allowing for timely discussion. The system can be used face to face or remotely to support blended learning too.
This offers a contemporary approach to fire investigation training using state of the art virtual reality technology. Delegates are immersed in authentic fire and crime scene environments, which they are able to freely manipulate and investigate using realistic tools and equipment. This allows delegates to experience more investigation opportunities to consolidate their learning.
