The High Rise Operational Tactics event is the first of its kind, bringing together firefighters from across the UK, Ireland, Spain and the US with a wealth of knowledge and experience in fighting fires in high rise buildings.
It will provide an opportunity to look in-depth at international examples of tall building fires, the approaches taken and compare the different outcomes achieved. The event will have a practical, hands-on focus designed to support the fire and rescue service to consider the range of different operational tactics that could be deployed. It will generate conversations to help determine and steer best practice for these challenging incidents.
The event is being held in response to the number of fires in high rises that have been fought by UK fire and rescue services, with 726 recorded for the 12-month period up to March 2021.
