Fire Service College
This qualification is aimed at candidates working within a Fire and Rescue Service and are who are required to identify and report on fire safety issues as part of their role. This would involve checking a fire risk assessment is in place and identifying and escalating any fire safety issues.
This qualification has been developed in collaboration with Fire and Rescue Services/Brigades and the National Fire Chiefs Council (NFCC).
The course will provide an understanding of risk assessments and control measures to mitigate risks from fire. Candidates will also be required to prepare for a visit to premises to carry out fire safety checks. On completion of the two mandatory units, candidates who wish to specialise in fire safety, can progress onto the Level 3 Fire Safety (Auditors) qualification.
The course is designed for operational firefighters who are required to carry out fire safety checks as directed by their individual Service/Brigade.
We offer flexible delivery options which will benefit both candidates and Services/Brigades and this programme sits within the Fire Safety suite of qualifications, the learning journey will be supported by experts in this field. Traditional classroom based or virtual delivery options are available, and courses will take advantage of our digital first approach.
The course is assessed against a set of learning outcomes which will be completed using the College’s LMS system and will take the form of written knowledge assessment. This will need to be completed before undertaking a final practical assessment.
This qualification is awarded through Skills for Justice Awards (SFJ).
