Course overview and learning outcomes

This qualification is nationally recognised and is aimed at experienced fire safety officers working in complex environments and situations. The content is based on the National Occupational Standards and is intended to both support and formalise development in the Fire Safety Officer role for both Audit and Inspection and create a solid base for further learning.

All our fire safety courses are part of a development pathway where the candidate must complete each level of qualification before moving onto the next unless they can provide evidence of an equivalent qualification.

The course is delivered over two separate weeks (10 days total) and will provide the knowledge and understanding for the delegates to inspect complex premises and environments.  It is expected that delegates will complete all knowledge assessments and apply learning vocationally from the first week before attending the second week.

Week 1 will focus on fire safety matters relating to existing or proposed construction, demolition and alteration.

Week 2 will focus on drafting/serving enforceable document and preparing and presenting evidence in court.

Qualifications are awarded through Skills for Justice (SFJ Awards).

This qualification consists of 6 mandatory and 4 optional units. The learner must complete all mandatory units and sufficient optional units to achieve a total of 37 credits.

As part of the learning and assessment process, skilled and qualified tutors will be available throughout to guide and provide expert advice to learners.
